Gold prices are dropping like they're hot... again! The pretty metal reached its lowest value in 3 years yesterday after the US Fed warned it was planning to slow down its economic stimulus program. It fell to $1193 per ounce, the first time it's been under $1200 since August 2010.
Most experts blame the price plunge on a lack of the inflation... inflation many traders had expected to drive gold values up. The Fed's promise to slow down its "easy money" injection caused an immediate reduction in the chance of severe inflation concurring in the US any time soon.
Also, the general improvement in the US economy has led many to question the true value of gold and other precious metals. Gold is down nearly 30 percent in 2013 and could see its first annual loss since the year 2000. Silver prices also fell to $19.19 per ounce.
We say: This is fantastic news. Hopefully gold and silver will get even cheaper so we can buy a ton of the stuff soon!

People Like Tax Cuts for the Middle Class, Not the Rich!
President Obama want to keep tax cuts for people who earn less than $250,000 per year. He wants to get rid of the cuts for people making over that. And, for the most part, Americans are happy about that! The President's economic experts talked the idea up throughout the day today on the top news programs. The idea appears to be so popular that even some top Republicans are saying they may vote in support of it.
According to Obama's plan, at the end of the year the wealthiest Americans would see their tax rates increased to where they were before the Bush tax cuts were implemented in 2001 and then again in 2003.
Most economists and political experts agree that some form of tax increase is needed in order to raise revenue and begin balancing the national budget, which at this point it wildly out of control. Some even say that out huge national debt has become a major threat to the United States.
Taxing the rich and leaving the poor and middle class alone is obviously going to be a very popular way of digging ourselves out of this economic hole we're in!

Big Solar Energy Investment Coming from US Stimulus Program
President Obama has announced that the US will provide nearly $2 billion in loan guarantees to two large solar companies -- Abengoa Solar and Abound Solar -- in a bid to boost clean energy development and, hopefully, create thousands of new jobs. He said that he hopes the investment will help the United States create a bigger "clean energy economy" and lead to the creation of hundreds of thousands of solar energy-based jobs in the near future.According to the President:
"We're going to keep competing aggressively to make sure the jobs and industries of the future are taking root right here in America."The $1.85 billion in loan money will come out of the $862 billion economic stimulus package already in place. Experts believe that the announcement is a reaction to the recent bad news showing that private industry is not creating nearly as many new jobs as expected and that the US economy continues to falter greatly.

US Stimulus Benefits Nearly Over
The huge $787 billion US stimulus program that was launched in 2009 is peaking without providing the big jumpstarts needed in the job market and overall economy. The Obama administration's "Summer of Recovery" will see thousands of temporary jobs created due to large highway improvement, water, and home weatherization projects, not to mention those thousands of "census" jobs. But after that, it's all downhill for the stimulus-based recovery. And unfortunately the US economy will almost definitely still be in serious trouble. Some global economic and financial experts say that the stimulus has provided very little if any significant long-term benefits.
The only hope for a real recovery is that private companies will see profit levels increase and will therefore begin to hire Americans in large numbers once again. Until then, the United States and the world as a whole will continue to sputter along with little real economic growth.

US Economy Finally Picking Up Everywhere
The entire United States economy appears to be picking up for the first time since the start of the Great Recession in 2008, according to the Federal Reserve. They say that modest and fragile economic growth is taking place in just about every corner of the country. The Fed's yearly survey that measures national economic activity showed that things are improving in every part of the country for the first time since 2007. Manufacturing is up as well as retail sales, both important factors in terms of getting the US back on track financially.
Experts till warn that the pace of the growth in most of the country is still extremely slow. Worse, companies won't begin hiring because of the modest growth, meaning that the lack of jobs will continue for the foreseeable future.

People Still Moving to Las Vegas
The painful economic slowdown of the past couple years has hurt Las Vegas, Nevada more than most other cities. Home values, tourism, and gambling numbers are way down. Unemployment is way up. But according to U-Haul lots of people are still moving to Sin City!In fact it's number 2 in the US, right behind Houston -- 2 spots above where it was last year. U-Haul says that the data is extracted from over a million moving truck rental transactions from the past year.
Many experts say that people are beginning to move to Vegas again because home prices are now so much more affordable. Also the warmer climate helps, especially with older retirees. Other West Coast cities also made it into the top 30, including Phoenix, Sacramento, San Diego, Los Angeles, and San Fransisco.
