That Sexy Red Lipstick Might Be Full of Toxic Metals

Watch out how you make yourself beautiful. Many types of lipstick may contain toxic metals, according to a new report from UC Berkeley's School of Public Health. A team of researchers tested 32 popular lipstick and lip gloss makeup products and found a lot of lead, aluminum, chromium, and cadmium -- among other not-so-healthy chemicals -- in many of them.

Back in 2011 an FDA investigation found lead in some brands of lipstick but, at least according to the government "experts," not enough to pose serious health risks. The Berkeley study searched for many more compounds beyond lead and, obviously, the findings we're very good.

According to head researcher Katharine Hammond:
"Just finding these metals isn't the issue. It's the levels that matter... This study is saying, 'FDA, wake up and pay attention' ."

We way: Toxic crap in makeup and cosmetics is nothing new. That's why, increasingly, we're attracted to "natural-look" women who don't use too much deodorant and who never get Black Henna tattoos.

DNSChanger Virus Might Cut Off Your Internet Access on Monday

100's of thousands of people will lose their internet access this coming Monday due to a nasty computer virus called DNSChanger. That's because the FBI will be shutting down special web servers it had set up on a temporary basis in order to help people with infected machines.

Fortunately there are easy ways to check for the DNSChanger virus on your own machine. Still, lots of people around the world aren't going to be able to log-in on July 9th.

A small group of Estonian computer hackers have been able to infect about 4 million computers around the world over the past 5+ years with their unique creation. The malware program redirects web browsers to fake "spoofed" web sites with malicious ads and links. Last year the FBI was able to arrest the cybercriminals but they have not been able to stop the negative effects of the widespread virus.

Experts say at least 300,000 computers around the world -- and at least 70,000 in the United States -- remain infected with DNSChanger. That's considered to be a huge number and may have some very negative potential consequences. The FBI has attempted to contact people infected with the program but they say that can't identify all of them. They have published some tips for checking/fixing your own computer.

We say: If you don't have at least a good free anti-virus program setup on all of your PCs, laptops, tablets, smartphones, etc you probably deserve to lose internet access for awhile!

Some Fake "Natural" Weight Loss Supplements Contain Dangerous Drug

A BUNCH of popular "natural" weight loss/diet supplements contain a powerful prescription appetite suppressant drug that was taken off the market by the FDA, according to a new US consumer warning. 20 brands of so-called natural weight loss aids were found to contain sibutramine, known as "Meridia" in the United States. The FDA took it off the market last year because it may cause some nasty side effects... like strokes and heart attacks!

The FDA says consumers should stop taking the supplements (see list below) and throw away the bottles ASAP. Anyone experiencing any strange health symptoms should see a doctor immediately. FDA lab tests uncovered the supplement scam. Experts say that unscrupulous marketers are willing to market weight loss products as "natural" alternatives to prescription drugs in order to make them seem safer to consumers and boost sales. Most of the products below are sold online in capsule form, but some are also tea and coffee versions.

List of sibutramine-spiked diet supplements:

: “Slender Slim 11”
: “Advanced Slim 5”
: “A-Slim 100% Natural Slimming Capsule”
: “Dream Body Slimming Capsule”
: “Ja Dera 100% Natural Weight Loss Supplement”
: “Leisure 18 Slimming Coffee”
: “Lishou”
: “Magic Slim Tea”
: “Magic Slim Weight Reduction Capsule”
: “P57 Hoodia”
: “PhentraBurn Slimming Capsules”

: “Tengda”
: “Acai Berry Soft Gel ABC”
: “Botanical Slimming”
:  “DaiDaiHuaJiaoNang”
: “Fruit Plant Loosing Fat Capsule”

: "Slim Forte Slimming Capsule" and "Slim Forte Double Power Slimming Capsules"
: “Slim Xtreme Herbal Slimming Capsule”
: “Celerite Slimming Capsules”
: Fruta Planta weight loss products

We say: It sounds like someone was trying to get rid of a bunch of banned Meridia so they sold it ultra cheap to some shady-ass supplement makers!

Texas to Tourists: Avoid Mexico!

Texas is warning American tourists to avoid visiting Nuevo Laredo this week, a popular Mexican border town. Officials say that local police have received information that Mexican drug trafficking gangs may try to target American citizens in the city. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, they have:

"...received credible intelligence from multiple sources that indicates the Zetas Cartel is planning to target US citizens who travel to Nuevo Laredo this weekend... According to the information we have received, the Zetas are planning a possible surge in criminal activity, such as robberies, extortion, carjackings and vehicle theft, specifically against US citizens."

The "narcotraficante" drug violence in Mexico has already damaged their tourism businesses a lot over the past few years. This new warning obviously won't help improve that. According to Mexico's head of tourism the warnings are "ludicrous" and "misinformed".

We say: Things are totally out of control in Mexico, especially along the border. It sucks because we love going down their for cheap vacations. Even though most of the drug violence happens in the small towns and "non-tourist" cities, it's beginning to pick up in traditional Mexican vacation spots like Acapulco. We think we'll stay away until they clean things up a bit...

FDA: Fat-Melting "Lipodissolve" Injections Not Approved

The US FDA has begun cracking down on people who offer fat-melting "lipodissolve" injections. They say that the nonsurgical method to dissolve body fat is not approved and may have serious side effects.

The injections are being promoted as a "no-knife" alternative to liposuction and other fat-removing surgeries. Promoters say that they can help dissolve small fat deposits in the belly, thighs, and arms. But the FDA released a statement yesterday saying that it is "not aware of any credible scientific evidence that supports the effectiveness of any of these substances for fat elimination."

FDA officials also say they've received reports of lipodissolve patients with permanent scarring, dark skin spots, and even hard lumps left after the treatment. So obviously if you're looking for a way to get rid of your ugly body fat you should think twice before giving this unapproved treatment a try!
