Dukan Diet: The Protein & Oat Bran Quick Weight Loss Diet

The Dukan Diet is the latest fad diet blowing up in popularity, especially in the United States. The high-protein diet has been developed by Dr Pierre Dukan, a French nutritionist, for over 30 years but has only caught on in Europe over the past decade. It doesn't hurt that soon-to-be-princess Kate Middleton and top model Gisele Bundchen have, apparently, both used the diet plan to slim down!

Now that the "American" Dukan Diet book has been released people in the US are going crazy online looking for recipes, menu plans, and information about the unique quick weight loss solution. The book is so hot that it's already overtaken ultra-popular The 17 Day Diet on Amazon's best-sellers list!

The "Princess Diet" is based around eating lean proteins and natural oat bran. The protein speeds up the metabolism while stabilizing energy levels and the bran fills you up and helps you crap out a few pounds of poo poo (we've been told).

There are lots of positive reviews and testimonials regarding the Dukan Diet. Women say they've lost several dress sizes in a matter of weeks and men claim to be able to lose 50+ pounds in under 6 months. Even actress Penelope Cruz has given her stamp of approval, saying she used the Dukan method to lose her post-pregnancy baby weight!

The diet is based around starting with the lean proteins and oat bran during an initial "attach phase" which allows you to lose 10 or more pounds in a matter of days. Then you move onto phases 2-4, where you slowly add in veggies... then fruit and whole grains... and so on.

We think: it sounds like a French version of the low-carb Atkins diet and it probably is a good way to lose fat and pounds quickly. Please leave your own Dukan Diet reviews and comments below!

  3. Best buy ever! I am 71 and had low expectations of losing the unwanted pounds. Within 6 weeks I had lost 20 pounds and as promised in the book, the weight has stayed off. The book is concise and easy to understand with no measuring or weighing. Just plenty to eat. Have recommended it to my friends who are amazed at my new healthy shape. You are never too old to make a difference.
