Oscar Goodman Will Promote Las Vegas "Showgirls & Booze"

Oscar Goodman gave his last news conference as mayor of Las Vegas yesterday and announced that he will now be working part-time promoting the "Showgirls and Booze" aspects of Sin City. The former Mafia attorney served for 12 years as mayor and his wife will serve for at least the next 4 years as the new head of the city.

As one of Vegas's most colorful characters, the Las Vegas Visitors and Convention Authority hopes to use Goodman to help "sell" the city and increase tourism numbers. According to Goodman himself:
"I’m looking forward to my next life... I’ll be doing a part-time job as the brand of Las Vegas on behalf of the convention authority with the showgirls and the booze, promoting tourism."
He also said that he'll be writing a new book, appearing on "CSI: Las Vegas", and making a documentary about his life that may or may not turn into an ongoing reality TV show.

We say: Oscar was a decent mayor. We always liked him. Lots of people blame him for Las Vegas's current problems -- including huge unemployment and rising homelessness -- but we don't. He's one of the world's most well-known (and goofiest) mayors and hopefully he'll be able to get LOTS more tourists to come here. After all, there's plenty of showgirls and booze to go around!
