Women: Drinking Might Help You Avoid Weight Gain!

Light to moderate drinking may help women avoid gaining weight, according to new scientific research. In a new US study, women of "normal" weight who drank 5 to 30 grams of alcohol per day gained significantly less weight and had less risk of becoming overweight or obese than women who didn't drink or drank more than 40 grams of alcohol per day. Even taking into account several other variables such as total caloric intake, physical activity, and other lifestyle factors it appears that there is a strong relationship between moderate drinking and a decreased risk of becoming overweight or obese.

So it looks like if you're a women and you're worried about gaining pounds, you might want to consider having a drink or two every evening. Quality red wine is probably your best bet since it may provide other health benefits.
