"Resort fees" added to many Las Vegas hotel bills are beginning to anger large numbers of guests in the city. The relatively small fees are usually a big surprise that most guests don't know about until they see their room bill.
The fees, which are relatively new in the hotel industry, are supposed to cover amenities like pool and gym access, high-speed internet connections, and newspaper delivery.
Complaints are being posted by the hundreds on online travel forums, blogs, and everywhere else that allows Las Vegas tourists to share reviews and comments about their hotel stays. Some travel and business experts believe that these "hidden" fees may anger enough tourists to slow the expected tourism rebound in Vegas.
The profit-boosting resort fees are definitely a risky strategy for an industry that's struggling, especially since room rate prices are always the #1 or #2 most-important factor for leisure travelers!
